In short Yes it does. RSS stands for Rich Site Summary, but often called Really Simple Syndication allows web users to subscribe and extract information on specific topic from specific web sites (which support RSS protocol). In RSS feeds information become available for subscribers within a very short time (or even pushed on their devises). Most of news and media web sites still using RSS, even this technology miss a lot to make it more useful. It is a challenge to find good feed, the amount of RRS readers (applications that manage subscriptions and shows feeds) dropped. Firefox removed its RSS button (2011), Apple dropped RSS out of OS X in Mountain Lion 2012, Twitter and Google stopped supporting RSS in 2013. But RSS protocol will be in use for a while even if not for content aggregation, this technology has other use in information worldwide exchange.
